This just in. Our agency has recently received unconfirmed reports of a failed attempt of the Empire to wrestle control of the Nara system away from the Gunsen Sector Resistance. Reports indicate a massive fleet engagement involving no lees than two Imperial Star Destroyers and several support craft.
Even after several days of round the clock combat opertions the pilots of Shadow Flight and the Black Guard rose to the challenge and launched to engage their enemy. While in the midst of throwing themselves headlong into battle, the Imperials moved to engage the only capital class Resistance vessels in the system. Undaunted by the challenge, the Culverin turned to engage the much larger enemy vessels and steeled themselves for battle. Our reports indicate it was at this moment that Resistance forces were bolsterd by the appearance of two more vessels, the Canoness and the newly commisioned heavy cruiser Paladin. Both vessels launched their fighters and maneuvered to meet the enemy head on.
Swarms of fighters danced over the capital ships which traded their own volleys in an attempt to gain the upper hand. The clash between the Imperial and Resistance fighters was described as something not seen in the region since the initial Imperial assault some twelve years ago. Resistance fighters managed to defeat their less capable Imperial counterparts and quickly engaged the Star Destroyers with their torpedoes. During the fray the Paladin, commanded by Vice Admiral Adwin Ulbrekki managed a stunning defeat over the Imperial Star Destroyer Blood Chalice. Several volleys of devastating turbolasrer fire crippled and ultimately caused the total destruction of the Star Destroyer with an apparant loss of all hands. The Paladin suffered some damage but managed to continue engaging other vessels in the area. Resistance losses have yet to be reported but it is believed there were casualties on board the new flagship.
During the engagement, several well placed shots crippled the Imperial Star Destroyer Maleficent which ultimately led to her destruction as well. This agency has received unconfirmed reports that her destruction is a result of the bold action of the Culverin and her famed Shadow Flight. We are making every attempt to confirm these reports.
Regardless of the details this actions proves that our resolve is strong in the face of overwhelming odds. The Empire has suffered significant losses recently and while their response has yet to come, you can be assured we will be ready to meet it head on. The brave men and women serving the Resistance are prepared to continue their valiant effort to win our freedom from a government that continues to oppress our lives and works everyday to deepen its hold on our lives and the resources of our homeworlds.

Once again our brave warriors of the Gunsen Sector Resistance have defeated our common enemy, the Empire. It was during the ongoing operations in the Nara system that Admiral Ulbrekki massed the largest formation of Resistance vessels to date. Continued success in the area have the Empire reeling. Our gallant warriors have stalled all attempts to retake key positions on the ground while our pilots control the skies and space.
Expecting an Imperial counter-attack, Admiral Ulbrekki ordered all available vessels to the Nara system to meet an Imperial relief fleet that Resistance Intelligence had warned was coming. When the Empire arrived in system the Resistance fleet engaged with weapons blazing. A battle beyond the realm of imagination had begun. Fighters streaked from their motherships throwing themselves at their enemy. Massive capital vessles clashed in the inky black void of space. The stars were witness to a battle unlike anything the Gunsen Sector had ever seen before.
With undaunted courage our brave fighters took to their battle stations and stood their ground. Their bravery and extreme sacrifice is evidence of our conviction to our beliefs. No where was that more evident then within the cockpits of the fighters we rely on to defend that which we protect the most. Our freedom.
It was during this battle that this reporter witnessed a most amazing feat. After several hours of heated combat it seemd all hope for a Resistance victory was slipping. Losses were mounting and our vessels were struggling to maintain their position in the line. Then, with the suddeness of a solar flare, the Resistance ship Culverin appeared in the Nara system. The Culverin is the mothership of the now famous Shadow Flight. As the vessel joined the fray Shadow Flight swooped down upon their enemy with a loud cry of "Tally Ho!"
The sight was awe-inspiring as the starfighters of Shadow Flight, looking like the knights of old upon their mighty steeds, took the fight to the enemy and brought with them an overwhelming sense of courage needed to steel the nerves of those who whose hope was fading. Once joined in the engagement, Shaow Flight inspired those around them as their bravery cascaded throughout the fleet. It was the most amazing sight this reporter has ever witnessed and one I shall carry with me to the grave. In the end the Empire was defeated and though the Resistance suffered significant losses they had defeated the Empire in a stand up battle, punch for bloody punch.
I stand alone now, in the observation lounge watching as support vessels maneuver through the remnants of the battle looking for survivors, friend or foe. While badly bruised and tired, our brave warriors continue to man their stations and make repairs knowing their job is not finished. Tired, bleeding, but not broken, all members of the Resistance know that while they have lost friends and comrades they have not lost the war. In time, peace will come to the Gunsens Sector.
Gunsen Sector Resistance forces marked their campaign of liberation today with a stunning defeat against Imperial forces. Recent activity in the Jundella system resulted in an attempt by the Imperial Navy to trap our courageous warriors by creating a target of opportunity that the Resistance couldn't resist. Reports indicate that the Resistance vessel Culverin and her famous Shadow Flight were dispatched to capture an Imperial supply convoy only to be met by no less than two Imperial Star Destroyers, as well as a new vessel which, at the time of this report, has yet to be identified either by type or name.
While outnumbered significantly, Shadow Flight plunged headlong into the fray, dealing the Imperial Navy its worst defeat to date. The battle was described as "the most ferocious fights" the fledgling resistance unti has engaged in. True to their reputation however, Shadow Flight fought through the gauntlet of no less than 144 enemy fighters and managed to escape while only suffering the loss of a single vessel and 2 brave crewmembers. At the time of this report, information concerning the lost vessel has been withheld due to the nature of the mission as well as to maintian operational security for all those involved. The citizens of Gunsen Sector will mourn the loss of these two souls while touting the bravery of their compatriots.
Confirmation of the engagement was released by Resistance Command through their Office of Public Affairs. Comments made by the Resistance spokesman indicate that out of 144 fighters launched by the Imperial vessels, less than 50 returned to their base ships. We have also received information indicating that one of the Imperial Star Destroyers suffered minor damage in the engagement.
All in all, this proves that through their steadfast bravery and nerves of steel, our brave warriors are up to any challenge. Through their gallant actions in the face of overwhelming numbers, they have time and again proven their mettle against those who try to oppress us. It is only a matter of time before the yoke of the Empire is cast off of our necks and the Gunsen Sector will once again stand as a beacon of freedom in an ever-dimming galaxy.

Resistance Command has recently released information concerning a devastating blow to the Empire in Gunsen Sector space. This news agency has learned of newly initiated hostilities currently underway in the Nara system. Our on scene reporters have learned the opening engagements of this operation have begun utilizing local ground forces supported by the Culverin, the mothership to the now famous Shadow Flight, and the Jundellan Spear mothership to the Black Guard. Both fighter squadrons flew support roles for the ground offensive.
Initial reports indicate intense fighting throughout the region with both sides suffering heavy losses on the ground. A brief air engagement was fought with Resistance forces proving themselves once again and quickly defeating the Imperial pilots giving the ground forces much needed air support. Commanders on the ground took advantage of this utilizing both squadrons to their fullest for the next few days. With the combined effort of our brave soldiers and pilots supported by the starships in orbit, the ground action began to gain the upper hand on Imperial ground forces. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Imperial Governor Maxin Elgin has been forced into hiding and his family has been taken prisoner by the Resistance. We are working to confirm those reports.
During the orbital engagement the Culverin supported by its famed Shadow Flight scored another major victory for the Resistance by capturing an Imperial Dreadnought during the battle. All enemy fighters launched to engage Shadow Flight and the Black Guard were destroyed and both squadrons are credited for the destruction of numerous ground targets. Over the course of the heaviest fighting the pilots flew round the clock missions to support our gallant warriors on the ground. The efforts of everyone involved is praised by Resistance Command is touted as one of the brightest examples of the new level of cooperation between units unfamiliar with one another especially in an insurgency which is still in its infancy. One represetative who asked to remain anonymous stated " I have never seen cooperation and a dedication on that skill in my many years of combat experience. It is a credit to our commanders and our training."
We look forward to continued reporting regarding the progress made by the Resistance in their first open engagement against the Empire. We have been assured by those commanding the Resistance forces that victory is the only option. The alternative to anything less than a successful campaign is our continued oppression. Once again we can look to those who lay their life on the line everyday for the cause of freedom and a better life, free from the control of a government based on lies and bent on tyranny.
