Step by step

"He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; He offers strength to the weak.  Isaiah 40:29

Things are getting better, one step at a time.

Today is the first day since last Friday that I've really felt decent.  We got our air conditioning problem fixed, along with a seasonal system check, by the most excellent Mr. Brainard Morgan of Morgan's Air Conditioning. (I will post his phone number here as soon as I find it again.)  Seth's sore throat pretty much went away on its own, leading me to believe that it was allergy-related.

At the moment, I really feel the marathon-ness of the race set before me.  It's not the difficulty of the course, so much as it is the length.  I sense the testing of my resolve and stamina right now, and I see where my weakness lies.  I'm keeping my head above water at work, but I'm not doing so well at giving my family the attention and energy they deserve, or in keeping myself in good condition, physically or otherwise.  I'm really feeling worn out, and I'm not sure how much of it will resolve on its own over time, as Rachael grows, and how much will continue – or worse, get worse – without active correction.  Worse yet, I'm not sure I know how to correct any of it at the moment.

In some ways, I think that's part of the test.  Hank Hanegraaff says that when the Psalmist spoke of God's Word being a "light unto my feet," he was revealing how God often gives us just enough light to take one step, which will lead us into more light.  We don't see the entire path before us, but just the next step.  What's my next step?  I'm not sure yet, but I know that God will make it plain to me eventually, so that I can take that step into more light.

Grace

God gives us the grace we need for each individual task according to what we need. He always gives us enough - never too much or too little. Hang in there - He promises that those who seek, find...You are seeking...He will provide what you need.
