Initial Development for Characters:

Skills such as: Knowledge, Mechanical and any Technical skill won’t start out higher than 3D+2 - 4D being a trained professional. None of those things are taught in High School or not to a 4D level as higher level is taught in a university or the military. (Exceptions: Ground Vehicle Op, Beast Riding, Willpower, Intimidation, Streetwise, Survival, Ground Veh Op Repair)

Hobbies will add 2D to the Base Attribute at start: Gambling, Art, Singing, Musical Instrument, DEX and STR skills are the most popular.

Characters are all 17 or 18 years old, human males who just graduated high school. Whether you guys met at the arcade and became grouped together by the referee or have grown up together is up to you. If you have grown up together, email your backgrounds to each other as well - except for any secrets that wouldn’t be widely public ized.

“Force One” is a game that the arcades have made a ton of money on for the past four years. It’s highly detailed graphics and nearly fully operational cockpit have been used to gain new recruits for the King’s Air Force and is the main goal of the competition. Count Ragan will be the guest at the Finals to reward the winners with the prize which is normally cash as well as a trip to the MEPS station and ultimately into the real cockpit of the Viper.

If they survive basic training and officer’s training, that is.

Entrants for the competition are from commoner and noble alike which makes an interesting atmosphere when a noble is bested by a commoner. Normally, the differences are kept inside the arcade’s walls, especially if the losing noble is egotistical enough to cause problems for the winner’s family. The Finals are attended by many including some of the military and other interested parties along with the finalists families. With the introduction of the Imperial Army on the world, the mindset for the military has improved tenfold. Their garrisons - according to the media - is peaceful and was meant to protect Glovan’s rich mining production as well as endear the Imperial Governor that now resides on Bosa, the second planet in the system, to the world. With rising problems in space with pirates, Governor Omry feared an invasion since Glovan’s air arm wasn’t space capable until just recently.
The Customs Fleet is made up of 5 Customs Frigates and a small wing of 40 Headhunters and 10 Y-Wings which some feel is inadequate to protect Glovan. The bonus is that Glovanian pilots and crew fill these vessels but are commanded by Imperial officers. Governor Omry assured the King that it was all he’d need; time will tell.

The wealthy merchant families have introduced not only space worthy freighters but, also droids and some nobles enjoy speeders and speeder bikes. Few enjoy these luxuries for various reasons not having to do with wealth. The overall mentality of Glovan is an appreciation for not only what their ancestors have established and built but, also their principles on outside influences. Some wonder where the line was crossed when the Empire arrived.

The line dividing the class structure on Glovan is much like England. Nobles are the government and commoners make up the backbone of the economy. Nobles are the commanding officers in the military and many have distinguished themselves over the centuries, some even endearing themselves to the commoners as a “Man of the People”. Women are equals and noble women are equally respected as most run the households as well as the towns and counties while their husbands are away on business or at court in Whitegate. However, all of Glovan are a proud and strong willed people. Hard working, for the most part, and dedicated (although, most know that the advertisements aren’t totally true when they see sons and daughters of the nobility vacationing and enjoying their parents wealth and status).

The law doesn’t differentiate between the classes however, as most judges are retired bishops.

Religion is also a powerful motivator on Glovan. Bishops in all of the cathedrals across the world proclaim the “One” powerful force which gave life to the galaxy. Since the arrival of the Empire however, those cathedrals have been turned into hospitals monitored by COMPNOR agencies, much to the disdain of the local population. Bishops are now doctors who spread the good word along with their medical knowledge. Some see these men and women as the true heroes of the world as they’re on the front lines trying to protect the foundation of Glovan.
