Who told the amoeba that there was a higher lifeform? What's wrong with being an amoeba? There still is a large population of them that think it's perfectly fine. It's also interesting that an amoeba is considered a parasite: "a plant or animal that lives on or in an organism of another species from which it derives sustenance or protection without benefit to, and usually with harmful effects on, the host." If amoebas were the first, then what other species was it feeding on?
Those that prescribe to reincarnation have to explain this one. What guideline was set to an amoeba that made some want to be better than the rest and are using that to progress to the next level until becoming perfect? How would a parasite know if it's reached the pinnacle of existence? Just curious if this theory means self annihilation or not, because once hosts are all gone; what's left? Cannibalism?
